Many years later, before that shutter pulled down, Pasqual Tort would remember that distant afternoon when his grandfather took him to discover the new Mundial Bar.
It was 1925 when Miguel Tort Rubitalta first lifted the shutter of the new Mundial Bar, in a Barcelona and a neighborhood both popular and effervescent, opening themselves to the world with the new remodeling of the Port. That very proximity soon made it possible to enjoy fresh fish and seafood, to the point of becoming, over the decades, the great seafood house of the neighborhood at popular prices.
Just as the Buendía family founded Macondo as a space for life and community, for nearly a century the Tort family founded and ran the Mundial with generosity and affection, making the bar a second home for the neighborhood and turning it into an essential part of the social fabric of El Born.
With its walls full of memories from its days as a meeting place for boxing enthusiasts, the Mundial is still today a space with soul, a living legacy of a beloved family and of a neighborhood that does not forget.
